FETTERCAIRN
DISTILLER'S SECRET
Distiller's Secret is a whisky made in small batches and sold exclusively at the Fettercairn distillery to visitors. There are only five hundred and twenty bottles available, filled from two unique casks.
When we met the whisky makers, we discovered that they were working on their own projects in secret behind the doors of the warehouse, the walls of which are painted chalk white.

For this first of a series release, Fettercairn’s whisky makers obtained ex-pale ale casks from a local beer brewer named Six Degrees North. Inspired by this imaginative and clandestine approach, we named the project ‘Distillers Secret’.
To express the hidden nature of the process, we blind embossed all of the information about the whisky onto the label. Only the name of the whisky remains visible, along with a glimpse of the oxidized copper still in which the whisky is distilled. This provokes curiosity, tempting the visitor to discover the hidden notes of toasted brioche, dried banana and tropical aromas that result from the unusual maturation.

To continue the secret theme, the bottle is wrapped in mysterious hand-drawn markings. These were taken directly from the real chalk markings on the casks, a secret code of sorts that only the distillers themselves understand.
Out of the darkest corners of the warehouse comes the lightest, brightest expression of Fettercairn whisky. In this case, less really is more.
